Night Photography II: Light Painting
This is an intermediate to advanced level course on light painting and light drawing at night. In contrast to most photography where we take photos of something that already exists, light painting enables us to artistically create unique visions that enhance existing surroundings or are complete, stand-alone artworks. The course covers how to add light to compositions, landscapes or models, the creation of light tools that can be used ( we will make some during the course) and hands-on practice in the field. The course alternates five classroom sessions with four in-field night photo excursions. Experience in night photography is recommended but is not required. Please note that most locations will require some driving outside the city and into areas that may not be connected with public transport. Drive sharing may be available.
Required Equipment: A DSLR or Mirrorless Camera with manual settings (exposure time, aperture, ISO, white balance), a tripod, a remote control or intervalometer and at least one flashlight. Please bring equipment and related questions to the first class classroom lesson which will provide necessary instruction to prepare for fieldwork.
*Tuition includes a $20 materials fee
