NESOP MASTER CLASS: Food Photography–Styling & Lighting for Food – WINTER
This hands-on master class workshop is designed for intermediate photographers eager to learn the art of lighting and styling editorial food. The course will begin with inspirational presentations from the instructor and move into an afternoon of hands live/tethered shooting group demonstration, discussing rules of composition, lighting concepts, camera angles and editing tools. Day Two, students will have the opportunity to create their own editorial food set up using natural light. A professional food stylist will be on set to provide prop sourcing, styling tips and techniques and beyond. The goal of this workshop is for each attendee to walk away confident they can successfully compose, light, and style their own food/beverage image.
Throughout the two days, we will focus predominantly on natural lighting techniques the studio will also be available for demonstrations!
To participate in this class, student must be 18 years of age or the minimum of a high school graduate (or the equivalent).
Pre-requisite: Students must own their own mirrorless or DSLR cameras with have a strong understanding of exposure and composition fundamentals. Tethered shooting and studio lighting demonstrations will be included in this course. If a student wishes to shoot tethered, they must purchase their own USB tether. (as all cords are proprietary to specific camera models) This is a great tool to have for all intermediate and advanced students to have in their toolbox!
About the instructor: Gary Tardiff
Gary Tardiff is a Boston based food and beverage photographer creating compelling images of every kind of food imaginable for advertising agencies, design firms and corporations directly. A graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and the New England School of Photography’s Advertising Program, Gary opened his Boston studio in 1980 and continues to combine his old school methods with the latest in digital technologies to create a fresh and flavorful perspective.
