Another way to experience NESOP

New England School of Photography offers workshops for all levels within its evening workshop program, where professional photographers often choose to brush up on their existing skills or learn new ones. In addition to that program, we often offer shorter-term classes or seminars and destination workshops which are of particular interest to those already working in the industry. Keep checking our site for these offerings or click here to add yourself to our mailing list and we’ll notify you when these learning opportunities become available.

Please note:  NESOP’s evening workshops do not fall under the scope of the school’s accreditation, and so they are not accredited by ACCSC.

If you choose to enroll in any workshop, NESOP is required to provide you with procedures for airing grievances, etc.   Please click here for a copy of NESOP's Student Complaint/Grievance Policies and Procedures for workshop students.

This one-day workshop will walk students through the entire process of creating a composite image in a sophisticated, "Hyper-Real" style--a graphic, saturated style used by photographers Gary Land, Joel Grimes and Tim Tadder. The day will begin with a discussion of lighting, location, lens choice and other factors, followed by a studio shoot of a model and lighting demonstration for the shot. These elements are critical in creating a seamless final image. The afternoon will be dedicated to learning the post-production techniques effective in creating a successful composite. Throughout the day, students will have the opportunity to capture their own images and apply post-production techniques to their images.

Requirements: Students wishing to shoot should bring their DSLR cameras

Prerequisites:    Advanced course for photographers proficient in fundamental photographic and computer editing skills.

This weekend workshop is designed to be an introduction to Final Cut Pro X (FCP X) for photographers.  FCP X, the new software release from Apple, offers a simpler and faster way to edit and produce videos from your DSLR.  Built on a new foundation, it provides a good way for photographers to move to the world of video.  The first day is broken down into a morning presentation of the software, followed in the afternoon by suggestions for effectively shooting video and time allowed for shooting video content.  The second day will be spent learning to edit the video--introducing titles and transitions, the insertion of an audio track and the process of converting the video for the web.  This workshop is an excellent introduction to the software and will provide photographers a strong foundation on which to build a set of skills, newly afforded by the integration of video into DSLRs.

Requirements:  DSLR camera capable of shooting video, a tripod, basic knowledge using Apple computers.

Prerequisites:  Advanced course for photographers proficient in working with computers and editing software.
